About Peter Lamas
Cuban-born Peter Lamas immigrated to New York City at a young age. Shortly after earning his cosmetology license, his skill earned him a coveted position to train with Paul Mitchell at the Vidal Sassoon Salon.
Vidal Sassoon was known for its intensive, hands-on training and helped Peter perfect his craft. After working at Vidal Sassoon for 3 years, the legendary Kenneth Batelle made him an offer to work in the ultra-chic Kenneth Townhouse Salon in mid-Manhattan.
The Kenneth Salon Townhouse was a fashion Mecca for Hollywood celebrities, political leaders, members of high-society and music artists. During his years at the Kenneth Townhouse Salon, Peter’s clients included Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Diana Ross, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Gloria Vanderbilt and Faye Dunaway to name just a few.
Peter was in-demand to do hair/makeup for editorial photo shoots at Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour and Mademoiselle, as well as magazine cover work and national print advertising. With several years of experience under his belt, Peter put all of his beauty and business expertise to good use with the opening of his own salons. The salons were on the cutting edge of fashion and beauty – known for stylish cuts that were not only flattering for each individual client, but easy to maintain. Peter’s salon became so popular it expanded to three locations in Manhattan: the Upper East Side, the West Side, and the Wall Street area.
